GAHWNY STUDENT HISTORY AWARD of up to $1000
- This award is available to a student (or students)* who has graduated from one of the community colleges listed below** with plans to continue their education and has been accepted at an accredited four-year school in western New York with history as a declared major. Students must submit proof of graduation from a community college, acceptance to a four-year school majoring in history, one academic reference, one personal reference and a brief essay.
- NEW! This award is available to a student (or students)* from western New York who is currently attending or has been accepted to an accredited four year college with history as a declared major. The college must be located within one of the counties that GAHWNY serves.** Students must submit proof of current enrollment or acceptance to a four year college in western New York majoring in history, one academic reference, one personal reference and a brief essay.
*The $1000 award will be divided among the number of approved applicants.
Deadline for application is September 15, 2017 (postmark accepted)
Funds will be awarded in October 2017.
*Anyone serving on the current GAHWNY Executive Committee is ineligible, including spouses and children.
**Eligible Western New York Community Colleges: Erie Community College, Finger Lakes Community College, Genesee Community College, Jamestown Community College, Monroe Community College, and Niagara Community College.
Eligible counties: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Wyoming.
